Pretty much what is convincing me we might be onto something.

First month of the season, our starters could barely throw a strike- offence mashed.

Then flip it around to a period of our pitching for about a month carrying us with an elite bullpen whilst our offence was pretty bad. They are starting to pick each other up and every night its a different area winning games. That's what good teams do, you can't rely on one phase all year and expect it to work.

Let's say we have a terrible next 10 and go say 2-8, we'd still be 45-32. Not saying this will happen but we've built such a good record we can absorb bad weeks. Look at the Dodgers last year, 1-16 was it at some point?

We will hit a bad run of form, and that's totally fine. We are absolutely killing it and momentum is so big in the game, it's important we just keep racking them up as we go.

We have the players, mentality and

Today's game is pretty big in my opinion. If we can go into the Boston New York stretch with a 7.5 game lead over the second wildcard team then you can pretty much guarantee that we will still be in a playoff position regardless of what happens in the tough stretch.

This notion that the Red Sox and Yankees are almost unbeatable is pretty fatalistic. The Yankees lost 3 of 4 vs. the Rangers (2) and the Angels (1) late last month and the Red Sox just lost 3 of 4 to the Tigers and White Sox LAST WEEK!

Yep, Angels games are huge.

To be honest, I'm more than happy for the Astros to deal with the Atheltics as well. I still think our best shot is the wildcard so the bigger gap below the better.

In a perfect scenario (assuming no division) lets say there is 4 games to go and we've boxed off the last spot off.

Line the rotation up and get Paxton going in the WC, all the big arms rested and I would take anyone on in a one off. Hopefully Boston and New York are jostling for the division until the final day as well

Really hoping they sweep the Cali Devils then take 3 of 4 from the BoSox at home. Man that is THE series I want to see.
Why?
Because the east coast will NOT be friendly. Two words..."hometown umps"!!!!
Especially in Yankee Stadium. Gawd the officiating there is the mafia I swear.
I'm going to the Tuesday night game with my son here in the boogydown and hoping anyone pitches but FiFi.
I actually saw one his greatest pitching performances once here at Yankee but those days are over sad to say.
With all that against them and the rabid fans up in Boston...that front right porch in Yankee is VERY short and doable for homeruns. Mitch Haniger could have a hay day. Go M's!
They play well vs. the East and I could see management getting serious about acquiring another starter and putting Felix on the bench or at least 6 man rotation come August.

Talk about cherry picking. If you have to pick out games that make up part of two different series you are really reaching. The Yankees won 3 in a row before that stretch you mentioned then won 6 out of the next 7 after giving them a 10-4 record through that stretch. The redsox won 4 in row before the 4 games you mentioned and won the two after making them 7-3 over that stretch. The 2001 M's lost 3 out of 4 on 4 separate occasions and also lost 4 in a row once and still won the most games in mlb history.

The Yankees and Redsox are about as close to "almost unbeatable" as it gets. They are on pace for 112 and 110 wins respectively. That would be the 4th most and 6th most wins in MLB history. The Yankees have only lost 3 out of the 22 series they have played thus far and 1 of those was to Boston. They also had a ten game stretch against the Angels, Astros and Indians where they went 9-1. Boston has only lost 4 out of 22 series and one of those was to New York. They also have amassed 5 series sweeps. Don't kid yourself, they are both elite teams and the M's coming out of those 11 games with more wins than losses is pretty slim. I would be elated if we could win 5 of them but I think 3 or 4 is more likely.

Felix will be pitching in NYC Tuesday barring injury.

Sale is pitching today which means we won't have to face him this weekend.

My gut feeling is the Captain is right only because I know from personal experience how hard it is to win vs. these dudes at home, however, that being said look at the top four teams records to date...
The Yanks, Sox, M's all have pretty identical W-L records at home and away games.
Only my dog Astros have a better record on the road than they do at home.
So although the Spanks have murderer's row offensively...they like all ballplayers are subject to good pitching.
I would argue our pitching is better right now but will be tested as to fitness in those two series.

Ironically, Although Sale has the best ERA of the Boston starters he has actually had the worst results in terms of record going 5-4 on the year. The 4 guys that we are facing have a combined record of 25-8.
