That's Edgar's career batting line against Mr. 100% votes, the unhittable Mariano Rivera.

I can't stand that ****. Edgar gets discriminated against by the same writers that say he did not play both ways but are making a push for 1st ever unanimous 1 ballot 100% ever in a BP guy in Mo? In what world does Edagr's 592 games playing defense mainly at 3B get overlooked for AL BP guy who had 4 regular season PAs and 0 hits and 3 post season ABS and 0 hits. These sports writers have double standards and it is not funny.

Yep, as I have posted Edgar played almost 4 x innings in the field as Mo pitched. 4829 vs, 1283.

They should take all closers and remove them from the Hall of Fame. They can create a "Relief Pitching HOF" and put it somewhere far away from Cooperstown. Starting pitchers win you the game and designated hitters can certainly win you the game when they can swing it like Edgar could. David Ortiz was another great. But, relief pitching is the least significant part of the team. How many saves would Randy Johnson have if he played his entire career as the Yankees closer? What about Cy Young or Sandy Koufax? If all they ever had to do was come in for one freaking inning. What about Felix Hernandez? Mariano was clutch with his slider, but in my mind Iwakuma was a far better pitcher. You know relief pitching is more about the manager then the actual pitchers. The stars of the game are the starters... Clayton Kershaw, Chris Sale... starting pitchers get demoted to the pen. You think Felix was happy when he had to go to the pen? DH is 4 ABs... Closing pitcher is like one clutch performance every 10 days. Some days you are not needed... Other days you come in with a 3 run lead.... Mariano literally had one pitch and that's why he could never hold up as a starter.... Mariners need Edgar in the Hall. I'm happy he's going in. He consistently mashed the baseball.

Probably when you nook at +17 and -1  . But look down and he is 7 for 7 on 1st time voter ballots as well. So, I am sure the no voters are not all no voters on Edgar but some I am sure. I notice some of the close ones have tailed off below cusp : Bonds Clemons and Schilling are just below, Walker is just under 70 % 67.2%.

Wow I had not realized Scott Rolen was so solid for so long over 70 WAR. I might have to push a guy like Pettitte off for now.

With 155 ballots in and tallied out of an expected 412, Edgar has 140 or 47% of the 309 he will need for election to the Hall of Fame... so that is looking very good at this point. There should be 257 ballots left to come in and Edgar needs to be on 169 of them to gain election so he could be left off 88 for the next 257 ballots and still gain election.... He's been left off 15 ballots of the first 155. I'm very, very optimistic but prefer to wait until at least another 100 ballots come in...... maybe another 150 ballots comes in... if he holds this rate of tabulation, by next week he'll be on the thresh hold of glory!

Edgar with 146 out of 161... nearly half way there. Edgar needs 163 more votes with 251 votes remaining to be submitted. We are at 39.1 % votes cast.
