seem to want a group of infielders they can move around

Lowrie has made 480 career starts at shortstop and 111 at third base. Cano, 36, can also play first base, as can Todd Frazier, the everyday third baseman who turns 33 next month. The Mets’ two other primary infielders — shortstop Amed Rosario and first baseman Dominic Smith — are only 23 years old.

Lowrie was primarily a second baseman in Oakland, but with the Mets he is likely to see time at shortstop and third base as well.

The idea would be to divide the four infield spots among those five players based on matchups, with infielder Jeff McNeil — who hit .329 in 63 games as a rookie last season — shifting to the outfield. McNeil has started only five games in the outfield in the minors and has not played there in the majors.

God why didn't they give us McNeil instead of Dunn.

oh that is the guy you wanted...its like the Dodgers, and their outfielders, teams seem to have more players than positions to fill

The mets can push Dominic Smith to AAA, and have Frazier (mainly) and Cano taking reps at 1B. Lowrie would play 3B, with McNeil serving as a general utility player.

The fact that they valued McNeil who they are now moving around like a pawn more than Dunn confirms my concerns about him.

I would have liked to sign Lowrie.... so many fast running good hitting second baseman in free agency.... M's had one that could hit but couldn't run, another that could run but couldn't hit.... typical

Man if you could combine Gordon's speed and D with Cano's bat you would have a 8 WAR player.
