OT nature run

Postby D-Trains on Wed Feb 06, 2019 4:16 pm

For some reason this made think of two guys having a beer in a bar. First guy says, "what did you do today?". The second guy says, "Oh not much, just went to the dentist for my annual teeth cleaning so my gums are kind of tender, how about you?" First guy: "Oh not much either, I just went on a run in the wilderness, was attacked and maimed by a mountain lion and fought it to the death with my bare hands."

He was fortunate that it was a relatively small animal. Doubt he could have done that with a large male that is easily twice that size

2 yrs ago elk hunting in full daylight watched a monster cougar stalk an elk from a vantage point about 500 yds away. It was huge and his tail was black tipped and twitching....made my hair stand up on my neck

Cats are so quick, imagine how many swipes and neck snapping bites it would get in before you could blink.
This jogger had the strength and stamina to strangle a 80 pound lion after he was already wounded..that's simply awesome.
One place in Colorado that was totally safe from cougars and other wildlife would be the "Impact Areas" that were used for training by the Field Artillery at Ft. Carson. You wouldn't even see birds flying through there..

On the Colorado parks Twitter feed that announced this news one person actually negged the guy for killing it and suggested he could have gone for a run where there weren't any mountain lions.

I once lived in Ft. Collins and hiked that trail all the time. Only cougars that ever attacked me were 40 years old and female.
