like he needs to worry about it, or he means he is walking out if the Giants use one period

Sounds like it is just if they use it for him. Who would be our opener?

You know if you had a healthy M's BP from last year:
Diaz, Nicasio, Altavilla, Tui, Phelpps, Pazos, Colome, Festa, Armstrong, Elias, ets, etc, etc.

The M's had a absolute A+ BP last year if fully healthy. As is they had enough firepower to throw 2 all star closers as set-up and and Mariano like closer. But with Tui, ALtavilla, Phelpps, Nicasio, Elias, Phelpps, Armstong, etc you could have sent another opener team to get through the top 2/3rds of the line-up.

So if you have a well constructed team with high octane type optionable young BP parts you could do something like this. Have a couple of top Aces ( Paxton, Prime Felix, etc). PS I don't want to argue Randy Johnson, Clemons, and so and so were the only ones you consider "Aces".

But here you go we have all heard about that 3rd time through the line-up stat. So you have like a 15 man BP. You have 1 or 2 aces that actually MADBAUM start the game and go 6 on the low but 7-8-9. Now for your 3-4-5 you send out an opener and a transition. Basically, you are looking to shut down the top of the line-up.

So the key is you throw out a bunch of optionable Diaz-Altavilla types and you burn them out as opener closer and rest them in the minors. The rotation becomes the regular rotation of burnt out arms to the minors. So you have a really good bp that has like 15.

Basically you send a set-up closer combo: renamed opener-trans to open for your 3-4-5, burn em out and send em down. Recall subset #2 send down set #1.
