Husky women - will they score 100 tonight???

Postby rockycola on Mon Mar 20, 2017 7:10 pm

It's halftime and the NCAAW Second Round Tournament game is a smokin' barn burner!

Dawgs lead the Oklahoma Sooners 54 to 47.

UW has 4 starters scoring in double figures which is very unique for this team.
Plum has 14, McDonald 13, Romeo 11 and Osahor 10. Plum has 7 assists while Osahor only has 5 rebounds but with 9-18 (50%) from deep and 16-32 total (also 50%) and 13-17 from the line, not many rebounds to be had.

Second half just starting and Kelsey Plum gets the first basket of the 2nd half.

And, with a 69-54 lead in with 5 minutes to go in the 3rd qtr., PLUM HISTORY IS MADE AGAIN!!!

Washington guard Kelsey Plum was already the all-time leading career scorer in NCAA women's basketball and now she's the single-season leader too, surpassing Jackie Stiles' 1,062 points from 2000-01 with her last score.

The U-Dub women scored 27 points in both the 1st & 2nd quarters.
Third quarter they amped up and scored 30.
Plum is up to 33 points and the team is up to 98 with 4:39 to go in the 4th.
Hell, Yes, I think they will score 100!!!
On the 23-9, 6th seeded Sooners.

Amazing but true: tonight is the first double-double of Kelsey Plum's career: 35 points and a career-high 11 assists.

It's over. 108-82. And they played in Oklahoma City in front of an Ok. crowd.
Oklahoma ousted Gonzaga in the first round.

UW will play #2 Mississippi State, who killed #7 DePaul, 92-71. That could be a high scoring game.

Over in the Bridgeport Regionals, #10 Oregon took out #2 Duke, 74-65.

If Washington wins their next 2 games, they could potentially play Connecticut in the Final 4 ( unless Oregon or others down CT).

Dawgs have tough foes in front of them. If they can get by Miss St, they'll either face #1 Baylor or #4 Louisville. Baylor scored 119 points against the #16 team in the first round.

And the news write-up from that newspaper from that little town that stole a different basketball team away.

But this is a very good read about U-Dub's victory tonight in that little town in Olkahomo.

SEATTLE — For the third year in a row, the Oklahoma women's basketball team has been ousted in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Despite another hot shooting start, the No. 6 seed Sooners were eliminated with a 108-82 defeat to host Washington on Monday night at Alaska Airlines Arena.

Kelsey Plum, the Huskies' star senior guard, scored 38 points to break the NCAA's Division I single-season scoring record and send third-seeded Washington (29-5) into the Sweet 16 for the second year in a row.
