9-8/3-1 Stanford @ 13-4/3-1 UW game thread today,1/13-5 P.M.

Here's another chance to keep adding wins for U-Dub.
Gotta do better than the 20 turnovers they had in the win over the G. Bears.

The Cardinal is on a 3-game win streak over UCLA, USC and WSU. The UCLA game was 2 OTs, 107-99 score.

Stanford's 6'8" Junior forward Reid Travis is averaging 20.4 ppg as well as 7.5 rebounds. Pickens (12.9), Okpala (12.4) and Humphrey (11.5) are next in scoring and Freshman, 6'3" guard Daejon Davis is next with 9.9 ppg, 3.9 rebounds and 4.3 assists, which leads the team. Darren has an unbelievable youtube of Davis on another thread. Wish Daejon had stayed with his commitment to the Huskies.

6'9", 245# Senior forward Michael Humphrey does 8.1 boards per game.

They've got 8 players that average over 24 minutes per game so their bench is fairly deep.

Husky defense will try to hold Travis to 10-12 points. We need solid ball movement, more of the very, very good defense and good board work to pull off a victory over a streaking Cardinal basketball team.

This is going to be a dawg fight today. Hope the Husky 3-pointers are falling. I expect a stalwart Timmins to have his best game and Crisp to be the win catalyst this afternoon.

They beat USC on the half court buzzer beater I posted. We should be these guys. Hop was not happy with how we played Thursday despite the win. He says I want more. Love that.

UW was behind most of the 1st half, leading just once or twice. At the half the Cardinal was up 35-33. Huskies did not have an assist for the first 10 minutes.

2nd half - 5 1/2 minutes in and Dawgs down 45-41. Nowell with 12 points; Travis 13 for Stanford. So for the first 24 minutes of the game U-Dub has 6 assists, Stanford 5. Huskies are being out-rebounded big time, especially on the offensive.

Down by 9 three minutes ago, Huskies have pulled to with 3:30 to go.....
ooops, two 3-pointers have put stanford up by 8 with less than 2 1/2 to go.

Thybulle with a layup cuts it to 6.

Jim and I picked the wrong game to go to. Exciting couple come backs but Crisp was God awful as usual. How does a PG in the Pac 12 barely 6 feet tall miss 4 straight free throws and none of them even had a chance to go in. Thybulle was also a train wreck.

Well.................
When you are out-rebounded 48-28
When another team wins the assist battle 12-8
When you're out-classed in offensive rebounds 14-3

Even if you have more steals, 10-4
And you win the blocked shots contest 12-3
And even only turning the ball over 10 times while your opponent coughs it up 18 times

Sometimes the ball doesn't bounce your way

Huskies only shot 37.5% from the field and were butchers at just 22.7% from 3-point land
Stanford buried 46.6% from the field and shooting 3's was 36.4%

Even though 2 of Stanford's starters fouled out and your bench out-scored their bench 15-11

Well..................

Stanford won by 9, final score of 73 - 64. The Cardinal had more positive plays

I thought Stanford was better than their record; they are on a 4 game win streak and rising
Peak and then fall, ya dirty, stinking Cardinal

There's still work to do, Mike. I know you are up to it. With your team??? Make it so............................

How would the Dawgs have done tonight if Daejon Davis had stayed, do you think?

Was Tybulle a D-Trains wreck?
Jim, Darren, did you're bandwagon jumping contribute to this loss, I wonder? Wish I was there, too.
