NET rankings and CB Power Index

Postby Hindemith on Sun Feb 03, 2019 2:19 pm

These two ranking systems seem to be the most definitive, so I thought I would provide links. The NET rankings is used by the NCAA committee to seed the tournament field and the Huskies currently rank 27th on that list. The College Basketball Power Index is, according to the description provided...
The College Basketball Power Index (BPI) is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of performance going forward.

The Huskies are only 42nd in that one but are projected to finish at #26 with 24-25 wins following conference regular season play. Both rankings include all 353 division 1 teams and are updated daily. Here are the links:

We're #19 in the RPI... **** ESPN. This is the ranking that matters.

I expect to be 24 or 25 in the AP and not ranked in the coaches.

Actually, NET rankings was developed as an improvement to RPI and it matters more toward how they select teams for the tournament.

We better be higher than 24 or 25 in the AP. #15,16,18,19,21 and 22 all lost this week and #23 lost twice.

Why Is Buffalo ranked at all? The only team currently in the top 25 that they played was Marquette and they got steamrolled 103-85 in that game. They have lost to Bowling Green and Northern Illinois. Their resume doesn't add up.
