3A State Quarterfinals

Postby waprepsportsfan on Sat Nov 11, 2017 11:34 pm

Here are the matchups for the 3A State Quarterfinals:

#7 Timberline (11-0) @ #4 Bellevue (10-1)
#2 O'Dea (9-1) @ #3 Ferndale (10-0)
Garfield ( 5-5) @ #1 Eastside Catholic (10 -0 )
Rainier Beach (8-2) @ Peninsula (8-2)

Any ideas how things are going to play out? What game(s) intrigue the most and why? Who do you think will advance to the semifinals?

Bellevue
ODea
Eastside Catholic
Rainier Beach

Honestly ODea will have a tough time beating Ferndale.

Sad but the final eight teams in football is looking as
shady as 3A basketball. It is very easy to clean this
mess up.

Not sure if O'Dea will have as much trouble as you think. I hear that Ferndale's top running back is out for this game due to injury. If that is true, big blow for Ferndale.

The Ferndale running back was injuried early in the game against Bethel.

Love coach Kohler but his play calling has its moments.

ODea pass coverage needs to improve. When Ferndale does throw it is efficient.

Game is being played in Bellingham so expect 5000
Ferndale faithful.

Ferndale running back broke his ankle.

I got ODea, Bellevue, EC and Beach

Additionally do not lump ODea with the other schools and their negative reputation. Please explain to me something fishy Monte has been involved in in the last 33 years

Agreed. Kohler is a class act and runs a legit program. I am well aware that ODea is not one of the
privates that abuses financial aid to stack rosters.

Kohler first priority has always been a educator.

Well, well, well. Garfield pulls off the biggest playoff upset of the season and shocks EC 13-10 in double-overtime. I am glad that EC did not go on to win the football game in that 2nd overtime because the refs totally botched up the down situation and give EC a 5th down. Fortunately for Garfield they stopped EC on that 5th down and then drove to set up their game winning 25 yard field goal. Garfield and Beach in one semifinal and O'Dea vs winner of Bellevue/Timberline game in the other semifinal. Any of these 5 teams left you have to think is capable of winning the 3A state championship.

I guess the Eastside Prep dynasty will have to wait until next year.

ODea vs Bellevue should be a competitive game.

Garfield vs Beach aka the McCurdy Bowl. Garfield
May have the edge coming off Eastside win. Both teams stacked with best talent from South King and
Pierce counties.
