Welcome to da Drick hauz!!

Drick Bernstine a power forward with some girth! A grad transfer and a rebounder! Nice add for Kent.

Bernstine, who scored 20 points and pulled down 15 rebounds against Arizona in the first round of the NCAA tournament earlier this year, comes to WSU from Big Sky champion North Dakota where he averaged 8.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 27.8 minutes per game this past season. In 2015-16, he averaged 9.7 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.1 steals and 30.1 minutes per game.

With the regular signing period having passed, Bernstine will sign a financial aid agreement with WSU rather than a letter of intent. It's expected he would enroll in summer courses at WSU in order to take part in offseason team workouts. Bernstine is eligible to play immediately with one season of eligibility remaining.

He joins three others in Kent's 2017 recruiting class: 6-foot-5, 4-star forward Roberto Gittens out of Foss High in Tacoma; 6-11 center Davante Cooper; and 6-4 shooting guard Kwinton Hinson. Cooper and Hinson are both coming to WSU from Trinity JC in Texas.

With the addition of Bernstine, WSU has one scholarship slot still available for the 2017 class, though it is conceivable it could be stockpiled for the 2018 cycle.

This is a really good get! I don't expect him to put up Hawkinson numbers but he should defend better and I think he's a great compliment and competition for Franks. Really awesome get for our program!

Much needed rebounder to go with the shot blocker in Kent's weird 'sorta' 3 guard sets. Franks can swing now...and if the shot blocker is a hatchet...at least it's two forward and 3 guards. He did that a lot at Oregon.
