Kriss, What a cool photo. It makes me feel cold just looking at it! I love your huge, flat fields. :D

Those flat fields are nice when the horses are in the far North corner of our property, 1/2 mile from the barn, and we can still see them. When we have lots of really dry snow and wind, they aren't so great

The high today was 5 and now the temp is dropping again (and it is only 1:30pm). But, the sun is out and it is an absolutely beautiful day. The horses were sassy and playing king of the straw pile, but were really happy when I brought them a fresh 1100 lb bale of hay. I love this freezing weather so much better than the mud!

I am lovin the rain!!!it is melting the ice rink! 9 out of 10 piglets are outside full time. except the runt that got injured and he is inside full time being nursed to health and kept warm to heal his wounds. he lives in a playpen in my dinning area and squeals when he is hungry. otherwise he sleeps and plays.

And I had finally picked up the frozen manure from the last storm!I had hoped we were done with snow as I hate the long commute on ice. We got about 6 inches. How is everyone else getting along?

well usually we are talking about snow, freezing or rain. This time summer heat wave! I am freezing gallon milk jugs of water to toss in the stock tanks for every one. Good thing my place is still mostly trees it helps a lot in this sweltering heat wave. I also tun on a mister for the piggy as she has a horrible time in the heat since pigs can't sweat. she will lay under it for hours on the cool wet earth letting the mist land on her. the horses, donkeys and sheep head for the shade in my small forest. praying we don't have a bad fire season this year.

Howz everyone holding up in the heat? Sounds like Portland has it worse with a forecast of 107! I rode at about 10 a.m. before it got too bad because I'm trying to get Streak conditioned for our first trail ride next Tuesday. :D :D :D

We bought fans for the horse barn and they are loving them!! I started putting loose salt in all of my horses feed last year after Lucy was diagnosed with PSSM, which has greatly increased their water intake. None of them seem particularly stressed and they look forward to us getting home in the evening so they can go play in the pond :)
